People in the 1950s typically did not expect much from women. At that time, women were expected to definatelybe married, and education was not needed for a woman to be able to survive. Some did not even have aspirations passed being a being a house wife and only taking care of their children their whole lives. Katherine differed from this persona in the sense of her being independent. She was not fixated on society's standards for women at this time. She was a free-thinker.
Katherine was very in the way she thought. She wanted these women to realize that they can do so much more than just become a housewife. They were capable of doing the career that they wanted, just like how Joan wanted to become a lawyer. They were not encouraged to do anything other than clean the house and raise the children.
ReplyDeleteIt is honestly crazy to know that back then we didn't really worry about the women. Now we honestly need them. Times have changed.
